Tether- 2024
In the midst of the COVID-19 nationwide lockdowns, the public found themselves allowed outside once a day for exercise. It was this lift on the restrictions where me and my father bonded over a love of hiking, choosing the local Black Mountain in our native North/NorthWest Belfast as the location where we could get to bond more than we ever could, no work or school getting in our way, just us together battling the odds of the hike. It was only after the restrictions were lifted when life got back in the way, myself going back to school and soon after finding part time work, my father returning back to his own work respectively.
This is where Tether comes into play. Tether tells the story of the separation of this bond through the exploration of the mountain that allowed us this connection. Each progressing images slowly loosing the ties that bind until they are left hollow, empty and void of anything keeping them together, until ultimately nothing remains. The story of this sequence of images serves as a reminder to always hold dear the things that bring people together and to fight tooth and nail to ensure that tether is never cut.
